Under the impression that it would stop the business, Councillor Taylor, at a meeting of the Glasgow City Council, during a heated debate adopted a Cromwellian device. He seized the mace, and hit it in the banqueting hall, but the Lord Provost ruled that the business should proceed. AMSTERDAM, August 5. At the special invitation of K.L.M., the Australian Scouts inspected the Schiphol aerodrome, and then flew over the jamboree camp, in a Douglas liner. RUGBY, August 4. The chairman and the British members of the commission of inquiry appointed to inquire into the recent disturbances in Trinidad, hope to commence their work in London shortly. They will take evidence from interested parties in the third week of August before their departure for Trinidad.
