Greymouth J.C. COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of thc committee of -the Greymouth Jockey Club was held yes terday, there being present Messrs T. E. Coates (chair), G. Blair, 11. D. James, W. H. Par.titt. 11. D, James, and the secretary (Mr M. J. Fogarty). Thc Minister of Railways (Hon DG. 'Sullivan) advised, through Mr J. O’Brien, M.P., that it was regretted that the charges for conveyance of horses to and. from race mootings could, not be reduced. Mrs M. E. Ward’s tender for icecream and soft drinks stall at the 'Easter meeting was accepted. Thc secretary reported that to date the total cost of the grandstand had been £3241, and that tho club’s total indebtedness was £2300 without making an allowance for this season’s! ewes. After payment of accounts outstanding, and whi'eh were recommended for immediate payment, the club’s indebtedness w-ould be loans amounting to £2lOO. The accounts were passed for payment, and members expressed satisfaction at the healthy state of the club’s finances.

Mr Greenhill’s suggestion that reserved seats be made available in the new stand to the general public at Is per day, was adopted, and the secretary was instructed to advertise same. The Racing Conference advised that the club had been granted exemption from Rule 224 (a) and (b). The Department of Internal Affairs advised that Mr A. A. Bosley would act as Totalisator Inspector on March 27. The Trotting Conference wrote approving of the trotting, events on March 27 and April 23, and advised that the racing 'Stipendiary Steward would also supervise the trotting events. TO-DAYS V.C.
