THE WEATHER

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 8. The weather report and forecast aro as follows:—

General situation: An anti-cyclone of moderate intensity has been crossing the Dominion to-day, its-centre being east of Auckland Peninsula. A depression covers western Tasman Sea, and is moving slowly eastwards.

Forecast: Winds northerly and moderate' mainly af first," but' gradually freshening,' and 'later Teaching-' gale force at places about and south of Cook Strait.

Seas in New Zealand waters rough in Cook and Foveaux Strait areas; elsewhere slight to moderate, but rising on the west coast. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate hut increasing northerly winds, with rising seas.

Weather fair to fine and milder. Rain is developing soon, however, in the western and far southern districts of the South Island. Conditions are becoming more generally unsettled within the next day or two.
