THE WEATHER

WELLINGTON, June 16. The weather report and forecast are ns follovs: —
General situation; A rather deep depression has peen crossing the Dominion to-day, its centre this afternoon being located south of Gisborne. An intense anti-cyclone still covers Australia, and the western Tasman Sea, but a secondary depression is passing Tasmania.
Forecast: Winds variable, at first in the southern half of the South Island; otherwise south-easterlv to south-west-erly prevailing, moderate to strong generally, and of gale force at places. Seas in New Zealand waters; 'Rough to high north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura; elsewhere rather rough to rough.
Eastern Tasman Sea; Strong southerly winds and rough seas.
AVeather: Unsettled and squally with further rain in most districts, and some heavy falls between the Cook Strait area -and East Cape, but otherwise mainly showery.
Temperatures cold, with snow' on tho ranges.
