Second New Deal (Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received June 15. 7.55 p.m.) WASHINGTON. June 14. From authoritative sources, it was revealed to-day that .he Democrats are drafting a second New Deal. It is designed to go the Republicans’ platform one be.ter Th e Democrats will pledge a Fedeial plan of Public Works, whereas the Republicans favour the executing of such undertakings oh their individual merits. The Democrats’ plan would permit the immediate beginning of large scale construction iti the event of another depression, other than an emergency. The! Democrat platform is to call for long-range slum clearance, and it will endorse the Administration's farm, social-security, s‘.ock-market-re-gulation, and other operating programmes. Shim financing has not been discussed, but a new bond issue has been considered.
