From Bank of N.Z. TELLER ARRESTED. WANGANUI. June 1-. On Friday last, was discover,. that the- sum' of seven thousand ti-. hundred sterling was missing from tl strong-room of The Bank of New Ze: land at Mangaweka. and a eompian was lodged 'With the police. Det ee.tiv Sergeant J. K. Robertson and Dole five James Murray, both of Wang; nui, made enquiries.
To-day, a. single man. Maurice Ed ward Alexander, aged 32 years. <nn ployed as teller in the bank, was ai rested, and he appeared before a JuHce of the Peace, charged that. <■> June 10th, being a servant in the on ploy of the bank, he did steal th sum'of seven thousand five humite sterling, the property of the bank. The> accused was rcmande-d to :i| pear at Wanganui- to-morrow.
It is understood that the who'o the money' has been recovered.
