At present working on Sir AViHmm Hunts’s property at Te Tipua is a patent excavator, lit is engaged in cutt ng a channel about eight feet wide aniF six feet deep through :i swampy piece of ground. A bucket suspended at the end of a swivelled, crane is worked by a winch, -and shifts the earth at the rate of five or six chains a day. The excavator works ami advances by its own power through all classes of country.
