RUNANGA NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) Tennis Club: A large crowd attended the dance which was held in the gymnasium hall on Wednesday evening by the Runanga' Tennis Club. The president (Mr. W. Amor) complimented members who had worked so hard for the club, also the various winners during the past season. He then presented the trophies as follows: Junior championship, A. Sparkes (a medal donated by Mr. W. Timlin), senior championship doubles, Mrs. E. and R. O’Neil (Mr. Ivan Bennington’s cup), men’s doubles, Mr. R. Armstrong and Mr. W. Amor (a shield). The winners of the lucky dances during the evening were: Mr. and Mrs. W. Timlin (lucky spot), Miss Norma Tyson and Mr. F. Hart (lucky spot), Miss Thelma Smith and Mr. N. Speakman (lucky spot fox trot), Miss June Finn and Mr. R. Kelly (lucky spot oue-step). A tap dance given By Miss T. Smith was much appreciated. A dainty supper was served by the ladies’ committee and a very enjoyable evening was brought to a close with all singing “For they are jolly good Fellows. ’ ’ Personal: Mr. and Mrs. J. Wright, of Hawarden, arrived last week on a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Wright, Duncan Street. Mrs. T. Halliday, accompanied by her daughter, May, left for Christchurch by yesterday’s express, to attend the Christchurch competitions.
