THE WEATHER
WELLINGTON. August 1. The weather report and forecast are ' as follows:— i General situation: An anti-cyclone of moderate intensify is crossing the I Dominion to-day. A slight depression is situated to the north west, while tan extensive one now covers south-east ern Australia. Forecast: W’nds moderate fn strong, easterlv north of Kawhin end East Cape; e s sewhere light to moderate, and variable, but tending to northerly and later freshening. Seas in New Zealand waters rather rough, north of East Cape; elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate easterly winds, veering to imrtherlies, and gradually freshening: seas moderate, but later rising. Weather fair to fine in most parts, but cloudy to overcast in the far north, with rain in places, and isolated showers or misty rain still likely on the east coast of the North Island. Later cloud is m- ’ creasing in Westland. Cold temperatures to-night, with many frosts, but temperatures are becoming milder tomorrow.
