A shortage of houses in Wellington led to the Central Committee of the Allied Building Organisations ho’ding a meeting to-day to consider ways and means of encouraging co zens t • take greater advantage <•!’ he building subsidy. One member remaik d that he had advertised a house <» ; et :;•’<! had received approximately t \v,» hundred rpriies within ‘24 hou»>. The general conclusion leobed was that the public did not appreciate the advantage of the subsidies extend ed to property owners and prospective home builders as much as the Unemployment Board’s help warranted, or the simple processes by iwhieh these subsidies could be obtained. It was decided that a greater degree of publicity wou'd be of advantage t<» -lie bui’ding trade and to employment generally. A small commitlee was appointed to go into details, and to bring down various schemes to give nublieitv to the subs’nlv.
