GERMAN NAVAL CLAIM

BRITAIN AGREES To Full Increase Asked (Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received June 12 at 9.20 p.m.) LONDON, June 12. The “Daily Herald” says: The British Government have agreed to Germany’s naval claim to a strength 35 per cent, of that of the British navy, provided that this proportion will apply, not to the total tounage, but to each type of the building programme, to be spread over a number of years, so that there shall be no advantage in new ships over old. Finally, the agreements are subject to the approval by the other naval Powers.

The “Daily Telegraph” says it understands the United States has no objection, but that the French attitude is less complaisant. Italy is likely to be sympathetic with Germany’s claim. Cabled advice from Tokio states that Japan has no objection. GERMANS LOSE NATIONALITY BERLIN, June 11. Herr Frick has issued a decree, depriving 38 Germans of their nationality, including Herr Hilferding, Dr. Stresemann’s Minister of Finance, who concluded a live hundred million mark loan with the Swedish Match Trust, Helping to tide over German finances at a difficult time. The decree also affects various wellknown Socialist and Communist writers, on the grounds that their disloyalty to the State and the people prejudiced German interests.

GOVERNMENT ENDORSEMENT. (Received June 12, al l|o> p.m.) BERLIN, June 12. The “Lokal Anzeiger” says: “The Prince of Wales’ statement, which certainly has not been without the agreement of the British Government,, shows that a change in sentiment is making itself felt in England, which has been especially marked in demands by Dominion representatives at I hetime of the Jubilee.”
