(Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the loca sports club took place on Saturda. afternoon, and despite a very wet day quite a large number of visitors at tended from Hokitika, Ross Wataroi Waiho and Weheka. A ball was hel in the evening and proved a grea success. The music was in the hand of the Ro>s Orchestra. Miss I\. Haddock-, who has been oi an extended visit to Christc-hurch, i at present on a visit here.

Mr E r Henlihy, who has been on : visit to Christchurch, has returned. Mr. and Mrs. A. Barrett of Waihi Gorge visited here for the sports meet ing on Saturday. The death took place at Okarito or Thursday afternoon last of Mrs W. Patrick, one of the best known Soufli Westland pioneers. A native of Dub lin, the deceased was about 85 years of age, and was predeceased by hei husband eight years ago. The funer which was a private one. took place at Hokitika on Saturday morning last. She leaves a family of one son Maurice (Evans Creek) and Mesdames Wallace (Stillwater), Donovan (Okar ito), Condon (Tatare) and Autheman (Wataroa), also a largo number of grand-children.
