AUCKLAND TRANSPORT BOARD.

Without opposition, the Auckland Transport. Board to-day elected Mr 11. G. R. Mason. M.P. for Auckland Suburbs, as chairman, and Mr F. E. Lark secretary of the Auckland Unemployed Workers’ Association, as deputy-chairman. Complimentary remarks were passed to Mr A. C. Allum, chairman of the Board since its inception.
The Board, in which, there is a strong Labour majority, asked for a report as to the. economies which can be made, and for a return showing the cost of restoring wages and salary cuts to all employees receiving up to' £3OO yearly. The chairman’s honorarium is £3OO yearly, and members receive 30s per meeting, with a maximum of £7B per year.
