(Our Own Correspondent.) Labour Matters: WESTPORT, Juno 10. The usual fortnightly meeting of the local branch of the N.Z. Labour Party was held last evening, Mr W. IL Woodcock presiding over a fair attendance of members. Prior to business being transacted, the Chairman macle feeling reference to the passing of Mrs McCombs', and on the motion of Mr Parfitt, seconded by Mr Sherlock, the Secretary was instructed to forward the Branch’s sympathy to tihe relatives. Arising out. of an appeal from the National Executive for funds for the forthcoming election campaign, a dong discussion took place. It was finally agreed that the branch endeavour to raise the sum of £5O for the object. It was decided to hold a meeting of the Holland Memorial Hall Committee prior to the next fortnightly meeting of the Branch, the Committee to meet at 7.30, and the business of 'the Branch to proceed ut <8 o’clock. Mrs Collins, Secretary of the ladies’ committee, submitted a cash statement in connection with the social activities of the Branch. 'The report revealed a falling off in attendances at the functions v. hu ll was attributed to the many attractions of a, similar character held in Westport and the bad state of the weather experienced of late. The ladies’ committee was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their selfsacrificing endeavours. The usual fortnightly entertainment in aid of the funds of the Holland Memorial Hall will be held on Tuesday and the proceeds of Friday’s function will, as usual, he devoted to the Campaign Funds. The hope was expressed that the functions in future would be accorded more patronage.

Two Men Suffer Leg Fractures: Two Picton residents, Norman Steele and Jack Trembath the former’s brotih er-in-law, Were the unfortunate victims of a, serious accident yesterday in the Buller Gorge. Trembath was riding a motor-cycle and Steele was accommodated on the pillion seat when the machine camo in contact with a pi ejection in the bank, with the result that the cycle skidded across the road and crashed into a big boulder, which resulted in both men suffering fractured legs at 3 p.m., and it was 45 minutes later wihen the plight of the men was d'.'-'.'overed by a pass'ing motor ’. He <-ou'd do little to assist them and it five o’clock before they were finally removed to '•the Buller Hospital by the ambulance. They were landcrcd all possible medical aid by Dr. (Dant and are .now inmates of the insl it ution. Mr Steele was proceeding to Went port on a visit to his brother, Mr L. Steele.

Family troubles brew thick and fast between the Tutts and Ramsbothams, and they provide an invigorating cocktail of broad farce, dean comedy and happy laughter. Recommended by censor for adults. Excellent supporting subjects.
