COLDS PREVALENT
SEQUEL TO HOT SUMMER
(Per Press Association - ). AUCKLAND, <jine 10.
Many people are paying now. with coughs and colds, for their enjoyment of an unusually hot summer. Medical practitioners stated yesterday that although colds at this* time of the year might be regarded as seasonal, and therefore not unexpected, there appeared <o be a somewhat greater prevalence this year.
The cause was thought to be to some extent that people had become a .little careless. This applied particularly to elderly people.
•Tit was? stalled that what might appear to be a prevalence of sore throats was no doubt due to the fact that in the case of colds the primary infection so often started in . the throat. Sufferers frequently failed to take notice of the initial warnings of a cold. They moved about in their daily business and paired the infection on.
