DOUBLE TRAGEDY
MAORI AND WIFE A Terrible Sight (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND. June 10. A AVhangaiei message states that a tragedy is reported from I’arakao. where Mrs Fraser Edwards a young Maori woman, and liv»* husband, Fraser Edwards, were found dead. Fraser Edwards was a well-known Maori, who was employed by Mr C. L Frown, of Wilson’s Bridge, Parakao, n> working timber. He did not turn up at the job this morning. Brown sent hi.o son Harry, aged 13 years, to make inquiry. Harry went to a lonely hut. near the Mangakahia River, where Ed wards and his wife lived, but his calls evoked no response. Brown himself then visited the hut. On looking tihrough a- window, he wit
nessed a terrible sight. Mi's Franc Edwards was lying on a bed. bleediuj profusely from the head, and her hus band was in a far corner of the hut
i oaning. and apparently very weak. A note addressed to the police wa< pinned to the whare door. The woman wa? dead. The husban 1 died later.
