Miss M'Quilkan was a distinguished graduate this year, gaining her M.A. with first-class honours in English language and literature, and besides the Macmillan Brown, the James Clark Prize for leading the Honours English class, and a George Young Scholarship Miss M’Quilkan is also a pianist with an L.T.C.L. degree. The death has occurred at Opotiki of Mr. Robert E. Wylde, aged 73 years. He was born in Kuniara and resided many years on the Coast, being school- i master at Ikamatua for a considerable time, later retiring and residing in Greymouth, leaving for Opotiki seven years ago. He leaves a widow and three daughters, Mrs B. Clarke, Greymouth, Mrs P. Bowater, Westport, Mrs R. Hooper. Auckland, and four sons, Messrs Bert. Percy ami Robert (of Wellington) and William of Opotiki); also three sisters, Mrs Grant ‘(Nelson), Mrs D’Alton (Melbourne), and Miss 1.. Wylde (Runanga), ami four brothers. Messrs Arthur (Bay of Plenty), George (Punakaiki) and Frank and Jack (Runanga).
