(Our Own Correspondent.) Plunket Society: WESTPORT, May 28. Although the good work accomplish' e<| by it he Westport Plunket ’Society i* fully' rcuoguised. there is still room for appreciation of what is being done for the childre’i by the Branch in the Busier district. Promoted only by the innate love for his majesty the baby, the movement was started some years ago in times of plenty, but now owing to the general state of economic condiitions the resources of the branch arc not too bright,; but this wonderful hand of women are keeping the shin afloat mainly through revenue derived from social functions’. The annual meeting of the Society will take place on Monday, 10th June at the branch headquarters at 8 p.m.; and the committee extends a hearty invitation to all subscribers to be present ( . especially those mothers who are sharing in the. many benefits of the branches activities. The Mayor, Mr J. Kilkenny will preside and at the conclusion of (he meeting, a dainty supper will bo provided by the* Committee. A Popular Engagement:

The engagement is announced of Miss Norfydd (Molly) Rees youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Rees, Westport*, to William Maginty, only son of Mr and Mrs Maginty of Denniston. The young couple are popularly known in sporting circles in the Buller district. Miss Rees has represented West port at both hockey and basket ball, whilst Mr Maginty is a wellknown exponent of the soccer code.

Shipping: There were no arrivals yesterday. The Kanna sailed yesterday. The Goseric is due from Auckland to-morrow.
