8000 ACRE PURCHASE
NEW PLYMOUTH PROPOSAL. (Per Press Association). NE.W PLYMOUTH May 27. A suggestion that the New Plymouth P.orough Council should purchase eight thousand acres of partly developed farming land, between the town and Mount Egniont,. was placed before the f ouneil to-night by the Chief Inspector, Mr R. Day. The object of the scheme iy to preserve the town’s water supply from pollution., and to use the land for commercial afforestation.
