TAXES ON FOOD

Loi'd Beaverbrook', in his paper, the “Daily Express” has started a campaign for the growing of more food in Britain. Tie urges tlm'.’ there should bo an end made to TH. Hon. XX’. Elliot’s policy, which ho says is for regulating and restricting the outpti't of food from British farms. Tie favours farm development by moans of tariffs. Lord Deaverbroolc suggests tha-'. a tax of two pence per pound on imported foreign meat would bring in nine millions sterling a year if the present imports from the Argentine were maintained. TTo says the duty on eggs should be thirty-three per cent, and 'hat on poultry sixpence per pound.
