Negotiations for the merging of jcwspap.er interests in Christchurch were concluded to-day. Arrangements were completed for the purchase of the goodwill of the “Christchurch Times’’ by the Christchurch Press’ Coyj. Ltd. Arrangemeivts wore also completed tc-day for th? purchase of the goodwill of the “Sun” newspaper by the New Zealand Newspapers Lid. 'l'hc merger is subject in the case o' the “Sun’’ Newspapers to ‘the approval of the “Sun’’ shaiehoilders, at an extraordinary general meeting, which will lie convened at an early date. As it is nt present arranged, both the '‘Times’’ and the “Sun will cease nublication on Saturday, June 29th. Air C XV. Earle, the Presidenr of the Newspapei Proprietors’ Association of Xew Zealand has acted as negotiator ihrinighout tin* proceeding.-*, and has contributed in a very great measure to the ultimate sett lemon’!.
