FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIPS. PARIS, May 26. Tn the men’s doubles final at the French tennis championships. Craw ford and Quist defeated Turnbull and McGrath 6/1, 6/4, 6/2. All four fully extended themselves in the final. Crawford’s form was vastly improved, his ground shots and volleying being superb. He complete’v dominated the match, and with the aid of Quist’s severe smashing, easily defeated his team mates. McGrath and Turnbull found their defence split by stinging drives from Crawford. Crawford has now won or share in winning all three French championships, while McGrath has performed the unusual aeheivement of reaching the doubles finals for the Uni rd successive year, with three different partners. Women’s doubles final—Scriven and Stammers defeated Sperling and Adamoff 6/4, 6/0. Semi-finals, mixed doubles—Legeay and Tien rotin defeated Hines and Andrus 6 4, 6/2; Bernard and Payot beat Lesueur and Mathieu 6/3. 2/6, 6/2. Men’s singles, first round:—Quist defeated Remet 6/3. 6/0, 6/0; Tuckey defeated F. Merlin 6/1, 6/4, 7/5. Second round:—Menzel defeated Destremeau 6/1, 6/4. 7/5; Bernard defeated Nishimura 6/1, 4/6, 6/4, 8/6; Caska beat Freshwater 12/10, 7/5, 6/0; Hines defeated Pelizza 6/3, 6/4, 4/6, 6/4; Legeay defeated Cook (England) 6/4, 6/2, 6/3; Perry beat Landau 6/3. 6 4, 6/2; Puncec defeated Yamagishi 2/6. 9/7. 6/1, 6/3; A. Merlin defeated Hendrie (South Africa) 6/1, 6/2, 4/6. 6/3.
