N.Z. BUTTER. HONOLULU MARKET. AUCKLAND, May 13. There is an encouraging market, for New Zealand butter in Hawaii, according to Mr N. Nash, manager of the Hawaiian Pineapple Company, who arrived by ’the Aorangi. Mr Nash is a former New Zealander, who has been in business in Honolulu for the last 14 years. A duty of 14 cents a pound was imposed On New Zealand butter in Hawaii, Mr Nash said; but in spite of that it sold at 40 cents (about Is 8d) a pound in the shops. It was advertised as coming from New Zealand, and many people in Honolulu preferred it to any other variety. A recent, order from the United States Government that all meat supplies for the forces in Hawaii should be purchased from the United States, had affected the New Zealand meat export trade with the islands. Conditions in Hawaii were improving steadily. Aided by a Govern went quota scheme, the sugar indus-

try had advanced rapidly, and more than 1,000,000 tons of raw eane sugar were exported annually. Last year the export of pineapples totalled 176 000,000 tins, and eo-operative organisation was proving of great benefit to the industrv.
