BRUNNER NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.') The Brunnerton Defence Rifle Club shot off during Jubilee week on the Taylorville range for Mr Turnbull’s Jubilee trophy. Rifleman T. Nimmo shot very well putting on 98 off the rifle. Throughout the shoot good weather prevailed. Next week-end the Club will travel to Greymouth to shoot in a match against the Grey Defence Rifle Club on the Cobden range. Last Friday evening the Brunner Branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association held a well-attended meeting in the old vicarage, Wallsend. Mr R. Mclnnes presided. After the usual business was transacted it was decided to hold a grand concert in the Wallsend Miners’ Hall on May 31, providing

the necessary arrangements in regard to the hall can be made. It was decided to enlist the services of Miss Watson in regard to arranging a suit able programme. The usual Monday evening euchre tournament held this week in the Tay lorville School, resulted in the follow ing prize-winners: Mrs E. Dando Ist, Mrs M. MrDonaM 2nd. Miss M. Morgan 3rd. The usual weekly meeting of the W.E.A. Drama Circle was held at the residence of Mr R. R. Smith, Taylorville. on Monday evening. An interesting discussion on the play, “The Foundations.’’ by John Drinkwater, took place.
