The United States dollar opened at 4.85 g to £1 sterling, and the franc ar 73 11-16. At the wool sales, 10,445 bales were offered, including 6166 from New Zealand. About 7222 Australian and New Zealand bales were sold. There was good Home and Continental competition at full recent rates. There were some withdrawls of inferior Australian sorts. New Zealand lots sold at follows: — Scoured merino, R. Company T (top price 23|d), average 23d; greatly crossbred. Glengarrie (top price 9fd); average, 7|d. Half-bred lamp slips TBS, Canterbury (top price 14d); average 13|d.
