Local Matches MARIST v. DOBSON. This game took placo at Dobson on Saturday in glorious weather, before a fair crowd. The teams lined out as follows:—

Marist: W. Timlin; Marshall, Grogan; O’Connell, Woods, Bort Anderson; Bayley, Timlin, Pollock, Henderson. Martin.

Dobson: King; Anderson, White; Tennant, Short, Cowan; Coutts, Hamilton, Jno. Anderson, Clasper, Crowe. Marist won the tos s and placed Dobson to face the sun. Short placed his side on attack, Anderson taking the ball into the goal, but Grogan robbed him and cleared with a lengthy kick. B. Anderson placed well for Henderson, but Tennant nipped in and relieved. J. Anderson gave .to Coutts, who shot over the bar. Dobson pressin £b Henderson conceded a corner. Coutts centred and Hamilton shot, but Timlin saved by punching over the bar. Baylev made a good burst and centred well, Pollock kicking by when well placed. Cowan crossed to Tennant, who beat B. Anderson and gave a well-timed pas s for Jno. Anderson to score with a good drive.— Dobson 1; Marist 0. Coutts centred for Anderson to land the ball in fron' of the goal. Grogan relieved. White gave to Crowe, who was tricked by O ’Connell, who crossed for B. Anderson to make good ground and place well for Pollock, who was too slow and Anderson cleared Marshall gave a corner, Coutts kicking over. Crowe had a good -shot but Timli n saved, giving a corner. Short fouled Timlin. Marshall and Grogan were playing a sound defensive game. The ball went from Short to Cowan and Crowe, who crossed- but Coutts failed to connect and Grogan cleared. Woods gave to Henderson, who made ground, and gave a timely pass to Pollock, but he "was easily beaten by Anderson. Coutts centred and Marshall cleared. Crowe made a run and kick in, but Jno. Anderson was well watched. Woods checked Short, and set Bayley going, Who centred but Pollock failed to gather. Anderson cleared. Cowan sent Ito Clasper and Crowe, who centred, but Timlin was safe Timlin made a splendid run, and gave to Pollock and Henderson, who returned for Pollock to have a good shot at goal, King saving. Half time then camo.

Pollock kicked off- Short relieving. B. Anderson set Marist »on attack. Bayley centring, but. Henderson failed to connect, Tennant clearing. Marist still pressed, Henderson giving to Bayley, who shot wide. Woods robbed Clasper and gave to Henderson, who placed well for Timlin to snoot. King ran out to save. Marist were dangerous. but failed to take advantage of openings made. B. Anderson and Bayley got going, and the latter, beating Anderson, centred, but Short robbed Pollock on the goal line and cleared. B. Anderson gave to Timlin <\vho made headway. Bayley shot and White cleared. Tennant placed well for Hamilton, but Crowe was offside. Woods handled and Short kicked to Crowe, who beat O’Connell, and Marshall gave to Clasper, who centred for Jno. Anderson to score with a good shot, giving Timlin no chance.—Dobson 2; Marist 0. Tennant and Hamilton, af'er a passing movement, gave to Anderson to shoot by. O’Connell gained ground, giving to Ba'-lev, who sprinted up the wing, centring right across the goal, but King pu'nchcd clear for a corner. Dobson cleared, Cowan placed well, but, Jno. Anderson was offside. Grogan placed well for Henderson to make headway, and g’ve nicely to Pollock, who shot, King punching back to Pollock who lifted the ball over King’s head, but Anderson saved a certain score. The final whis-le sounded shortly after. Dobson 2: Marist 0. M»* C. Hogg was an efficient referee. Marist are a good team. Their rushes were more dangerous than Dobson’s, hut they lacked finish. They deserved a score. Timlin in goal was faultless. Bert Anderson, who played his first senior game, made a good impression and deserves another tr ; al. Woods and O’Connell played well. The forwards played -well, Martin being the weak link. King made some good saves. Anderson and White have a good understanding. Tennant, Short

but there is vast room for improve ment in Coutts’ plav. RUNANGA v. GREYMOUTH. This game was played on Saturday at Runanpti- there being a fair attendance. The result was an even game Greymouth being a little unlucky to be defeated by two goals to one, they missing several chances. The sides were about even on the run of the play. Runanga were the first to score, through G. Craig, Mat Hall equalising from a penalty kick against W. Wick. They were even at half-time. J Cowe scored the winning goal for Runanga in the second half. Cameron. Cowe and Armstrong stood out well for the winners wh’le thn losers were an even lot, Rutherford being tireless in hi s efforts.

JUNIOR GAMES. The junior match between Cobden I and Greymouth at Victoria Park saw Greymouth win by two goals to one. Cobden inside men were below form, but a draw might have been a better indication. Cobden scored first through Kerr, while Greymouth stayed on the better, one goal coming from a long shot, and De Freatus getting the next with a good shot. Dobson juniors defaulted tp Runanga. Cobden juniors, who have had difficulty to get a full team,, are pulling out of this competition. FOURTH GRADE. j In th© fourth grade the results I were:— Cobden A beat Technical B by five goals to one. Roberts (2), Mountford I (2) and McLean scored for Cobden. Davies scored for Technical. Runanga met Technical A in their first competition game, and drew, one all. Technical C proved a goal better than Marist, winning by four to three.
