BULLER BREACHES. At Wednesday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Westport, before Mr H. Morgan, S.M.. a total of £7 in fines was infli red on two defendants for breaches of tho Coal Mines Act - ■ ith the working of the Westport-Stockton mine. Mr C J. Strongman (Inspector of Alines) prosecuted. Sydney Fox, of Stockton, underviewer, on hj *gp 1 ling to take air readings in the Westport-Stockton mine, as provided by Section 91 (3) of the Coal Alines Act, was fined. £2 and costs. Thomas McGee, mine manager, of the Westport Stoekton Coal Company, for failing to supply adequate ventilation in the mine, as provided by Section 92 (1) of the Coal Alines Act, was fined £3 and costs. On a second te see that all venre enclosed in masonary, as provided by Regulation 192 (4) of the Coal Alines Act, he was
fined £1 with costs. On a further charge of failing to take steps to enfore< Begulation 92 of the Coal Mines Act. in respect to duplicate ventilation doors, he was fined £1 and costs. Witness’ expenses £2 2s were allowed against defendants.
