TRADE PARLEY WITH N.Z. CANBERRA, May 10. The Minis’ter of Customs (Air White) who will leave Sydney on May 24th for Wellington, to undertake negotiations iwith the New Zealand Government for a new trade agreement Avith Australia, will be accompanied by the Comptroller-General of Customs (Mr E. Abbott) by an officer from the Trade Treaties branch of the Customs Department, and by an officer of the Commerce Department. Mr White will be in New Zealand for about a fortnight. CONSUL’S STATUS. CANBERRA, May 9. The Minister for External Affairs, Air George Pearce, stated that the refusal to grant Consuls in Australia the right of private entree at levees was not discourtesy. He added that the Consuls in Australia had no diplomatic status, nor were they given special precedence over local' officials at public functions.
