The death took place at Reefton yesterday of Mr John Humphrey, a widely-known and respected resident. Deceased, who suffered from the dreaded miners’ phthisis, which ultimately caused his death, ftvas for some years President of the Inangahua Gold and Coal Aliners’ Union. In latter years- he had been engaged in farming operations. He is survived by two sons residing at Blenheim and one daughter. Airs Joseph Panckhurs 4 of Reefton. His wife predeceased him some years ago. The funeral will take place this (Friday) afternoon at 2 oarlock, leaving th*e residence of his daughter. Airs Panckhurst, for St. Stephen Church and thence for the Suburban Cemetery. A social evening was held in the Blaketnwn Hall last evening, when the members of the Blaketnwn Football Club met to farewell Air D. Wraight, who has been transferred to Welling*on. Air AA’raight has been a member of the Club for the past ten years, and Air F. McEnaney. in the absence of the President- Air AV. Scott, spoke of ihe guest’s value as a Club member and player, and in expressing regret at his departure, extended best wishes fnr hi« future well-being.
