KUMARA NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) Kumara was en fete for the King’s Jubilee celebratious. the town ship being very nicely decorated, ito main streets being gay with bunting, rings and greenery. A procession, led by the Kelly Gang orchestra in character, made au imposing display, a large number of vehicles, bicycles, prams, go-carts, etc., taking part. A special tableau was staged by the Women’s Institute, their 'Georgian costjumes being much admired. A humourous feature was the old time wedding party complete with u Noah’s Ark” vehicle. Some clever costumes were worn by the children, and the judges, Rev. 11. S. Hamilton aud Air G. Seward, had some difficulty in arriving at their decisions. The parade and the sports which followed nvere splendidly organised, and the large attendance, thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment provided. The King’s Jubilee Shield, donated by the Mayor, Air 11. Hamer,, was keenly contested for by the State and Convent schools, and was won by the former, after a close contest, by 117 points to 101, the State School securing 27 firsts and .18 seconds, and the Convent School IT firsts and 25 seconds. In presenting the shield, Air H-imer congratulated the winners and announced that the trophy would be for annual competition. Detailed results were: Decorated vehicles, Air J. White 1.
