JUBILEE QUAKE

AT MONTSERRAT ISLAND. ‘EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. (Aus. and N.Z. Gable Assn.) PLYMOUTH (Montserrat), May 7. Losses of hundreds of thousands of dollars have been sustained as a result. of the most destructive earthquake here since 1843. There have been no fatalities, but scores of homes were destroyed. Tho residents were panic stricken as the island of Montserrat rocked suddenly at the height of the Jubilee celebrations on Mondav. Flying stones and mortar menaced thousands of masqueraders, who iwere thronging the streets. Joymakcrs from tho countrv districts rushed back only to find manv of their homes destroyed or damaged.
