OVER PACT WITH BRANCH. (Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.) PARIS, May 2. The French-Soviet Paet has been signed. A communique says: The . pact is based on Articles Ten and Sixteen of the League. Article Sixteen of the Covenant provides for mutual consultation in the event of danger, and aggression. and mutual assistance in the event of unprovoked aggression, and aims at assuring efficiency of the Covenant’s provisions, and the League Council’s recommendations. It adds: These obligations are designed to maintain European peace. It is assumed, in conformity with the French-Russian previous engagements, that this will not exclude participation by mutual consent in regional agreement, the conclusion of which remains desirable.
