QUARTZ FIND

Valuable Deposits IN ANTARCTICA. (Aus & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received January 1 at 8.20 p.m.) LITTLE AMERICA, December 31. After being 77 days in the field, Sipple’s sledging party returned here yesterday. They have brought quaitz specimens which Allen Wade, the geologist -with the party, believes to indicate vast mineral resources in the mountain peaks traversing the coast of Marie Byrd Land. According to his preliminary, report to Admiral Byrd, Mr Wade said that he believed this range technically forms a massive link into the Andean Fold chain, which, dipping beneath the ocean to the south of the island of Tierra Del Fuego, passes south at intervals in scattered islands, and reappears in the periphery of the Antarctic continent, and curves under the Pacific Ocean to New Zealand. Mr Wade declined to predict the possible extent of the valuable minerals, as most of the specimens have been left with the tractor party, which was met 150 miles from the camp. Air Wade, however, said that they found galina in which he believes there may be associated lead, zine and copper.
