(Our Own Correspondent). The Runanga Club opened its 193435 bowling season «on Saturday. Mr T. Bowes, President, -in his opening remarks, expressed regret at the demise of members of both the Greymouth ami Runanga Clubs, and all present stood in silence, hi opening t.he> green Mr Bowes expressed satisfaction in Mr T. Gallon, the caretaker, on his excellent work on the green. Visitors from Greymouth were present and Mr Mossop throw up kitty and Mrs T. Bowes bowled the first bowl. Afternoon tea. was provided by the ladies and a fine afternoon’s ploy was enjoyed, the Vice-President’s team winning b v 56 to 54. The President apologised for the absence of Air J. AT. Bunt, President of the West Coast Centre, will-, could not attend, but Mr Coltman the Secretary, was present.

The Runanga Croquet Club opened its 1934-35 season on Saturday afternoon in the presence of Chub members ami Greymouth visitors. Mrs J. Erickson (President), before striking the first ball, remarked on the progress made during the past season, and trusted that the future would l.r just as prosperous ami that their green would be extended before the end of the season in order to have available a playing area, to dope with, the increased membership. Two competition games were played, the winners being: Longshot. Airs W. Robertson: zig-zag hoops, Afrs J. Braithwaite. The draw competition was won by Airs Caldwell and Athol Robertson. A dainty afternoon tea was served and much enjoyed. Airs W. Rafferty expects to be discharged from Ngarana Hospital tomorrow, where she underwent a serious operation a fortnight ago.
