BRITISH HUNTERS Arrested by Costa Ricans IS U.S.A. INTERESTED ? (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) NEW YORK, October 26. The New York ‘‘Times's” San Jose (Costa Rica) correspondent states: Cocos Islands, in the Pacific Ocean, off Central America, have been invaded by the Costa Rican troops, who have arrested eighteen Britons, the members of the treasure hu'nting expedition sponsored bv the Recovery Company, Ltd., of Londoij. For years various expeditions have hunted for supposedly fabulous pirate treasure buried -On one of the islands, hut, as far as one can recall, with no su'ec.ess According to official word here the Costa Rica Government objects to the prospectus of the Recovery Company, which challenges Costa Rica’s sovereignty over the island. Those, airested include Mrs and Al" S. D- A. Jolly, Captain C. O. Polkinghorne, and Commander F. C. Finnic Much valuable equipment, in-
cluding a radio station, electric plant, a. refrigerator, and firearms, has been confiscated, and packed for shipment to Costa Rica. Th'e Company’s prospectus are reported to have declared that Costa Ri'ea’s claims to the island are at variance with boundary arbitration decisions, and the Company insists that finders of treasure should have no difficulty in substantiating their right to such property. However, the writers’ geography is obviously faulty. One of the Cocos Islands mentioned belongs to the Republic of Panama. It is- understood that the expedition were hunting for terasure which thev bcli'eve to be in excess of sixty million dollars
