(Our Own Correspondent.) Mr Berl Dunshea, who has been an inmate of the Reefton Hospital for the past few weeks, has returned home much improved health. Miss T. Kennedy is spending a holiday at Cobden with her aunt. Mrs F. Lindbom. Mr Sam Morrison, who has been an inmate of the. Reefton Hospital, has returned home, and is. making good progress. Messrs W. Luke and J. Young, of the Wai'uta Soccer Club, have "been selected to represent West Coast against Canterbury at Greymoutih on Saturday, in the Dewar Cup match. Lulke has been appointed skipper of the West Coast team. Both players should give a good account of themselves in the match. The Roveus League team visited Ahaura on Sunday to play a challenge match with Ahaura for the •'Mystery’’ Cup. Play' had only been in progress fifteen minutes iwhen two of the Hover side were ordered off. Not being satisfied with several decisions of the referee, the' rest of the team left the ground, and the game was consequently abandoned. Owing to a defecit in the winding gear at the Prohibition shaft, work was suspended there on Monday evening. It i's expected that a resumption mill be made in' a few days. Meanwhile, the men have been placed in the Blackwater Mine. Woitld-lwide sympathy has been extended to the bereaved as a result, of the colliery disaster at Gresf'ord Colliery. It is only on such occasions that, the sympathy of some classes of the community i’s enlisted. The annual ball of the Rover Club was held Jn the Minors’ Hall on Satuiday evening, and was a pronounced success. Messrs R. Bartlett and 8. Ramsden had charge of the floor, while the Happiness Boys’ Band supplied their usual bright plrogramme of dance music. Visitors were present from all parts of the district, and many beautiful gowns ’were: worn by the ladies present. The committee are to be congratulated 'on the thorough manner in which the arrangements .were carried out.
