OPERA HOUSE—MATINEE AND EVENING. “THE FLYING DEVILS.” Double leaps i n single parachutes barrel spins, tailspins, nitentiunal nose-dives, inside loops inverted flying, mid-air head-on crashes and other stunting tricks of barpistorming aviators. are now dramatised in an exciting talking picture, “Flying Devils.” to be screened at this afterivoon’s matinee and this evening, and on Thursday. When Bud Murray and Ann Hary drop from a high plane to the ground in one parachute they are thrown into each other’s arms m love as well as in work. Ann’s thrillcrazed, maniac husband owns the carnival, and finding the pair accidentally together in a mountain cabin after a forced landing Speed plots a sly revenge. Speed and Bud are to manoeuvre two planes into a head-on crash. A moment before the collision, they are to leap to safety in their parachutes. Before the crash, Ace. Bud’s brother, learns Speed cut the youngster’s chute. He soa:is aloft to warn Bud and then comes a startling climax. At Blackball to-night, “Jimmy and Sally” will be shown, while at Wavta to-night “Cohens and Kellys jn Trouble ’ y will be shown. CONVENT BALL. Considered by many to he one of the outstanding social events of tht year, the Convent old pupils’ annual ball will be held in Schaef’s Hall on Tuesday next, August 28th. The music for a pnpu’ar programme of o’d time and modern dances will be supplied by the Happiness Boys’ ful! •orchestra. There will he novelties galore, including something realb’ new—a competition for the tallest and ‘horfest coup’es in the grand parade. Substantial prizes will he given for this competition, also for the special Monte Carlo and the Lucky Snot wa'tz. An energetic ladies’ committee will provide a sumptuous supper for all.
