THE WEATHER
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 31. The weather report and forecast are as follows General situation: A shallow depre. sion (crossed the Dominion last night, and a fresh one has formed in the north Tasman, with pressure high from southern Australia, across the south Tasman to beyond New Zealand. Forecast: Winds freshening south easterlies about Cook Strait; elsewhere east to north prevailing, becoming strong in the fa* north; elsewhere moderate. Seas, in New Zealand waters: Rough north of East Cape, and rising in the Cook Strait area; otherwise smooth and moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: East to north winds, strong in the northern portion, with rough seas; elsewhere moderate aid smooth to moderate seas. Weather.Mainly fair to fine at first, but a considerable cloud of rain is developing shortly in the far north, extending gradua ly southwards over the most oi the Dominion. Temperatures: Mild in the north and moderate in the south.
