AMERICAN BEATS LOVELOCK. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) PARIS, August 19. Bonthron defeated Lovelock, by three yards, in the 1500 metres. Time 3inin 57sec. The Americans won all twelve events at the meeting. LONDON, August 19 “The Times’s” Paris correspondent says: Lovelock and Bonthron showed no inclination to force the pace, not reaching what was expected on the fast track. Bonthron’s tremendous sprint from the last bend was not sur prising, because he was previously allowed to run comfortably. Lovelock finished unusually weakly, requiring his utmost in the last strides to hold second place, 'rime 3niin 58sec. The weather was very hot.
