MR F. W. BAILLIE NEW MEMBER. At the public meeting held in the Cobden Town Board's office last evening, for the purpose of electing a, member to fill the vacancy on the C’obdcn Domain Board, caused through the resignation of Mr d. Goidon, Mr (J 11. Brailsford presided over an attendance of twenty-one residents. Prior to ‘.he .elect ic n. ‘h“ chairman said that alt of the members of the Board had regretted Mr Gordon’s resignation, as he had been a valuable member of the Board, and he would move that a vot t . of appreciation <•!’ his services be placed on the minutes. The motion was seconded by Mr F. Eggleton, who also praised -Mr Boron ’s work, and carried. For the vacancy, Mr F AV. Baillie was nominated by Messrs W. Delaney and G. Anderson, and Mr J. Stokes by Messrs L. Jackson and \V. Barlow The ballot resulted: —F. W. Baillie 16; .1. Stokes 5, Mr Bai Hie accordingly being declared elected Mr Baillie returned thanks for th'* confidence shown in him. He did not know whether the job was a very hard one. bur in anything that was to be done, he would do his best for the people of Cobden. Mr Stokes thanked those who had supported him, and said that, he was sure Mr Baillie would carry out his duties conscientiously. The Chairman said that he was pleased to see so many present, and to know that the people of Cobden were taking an interest in the Board. -Mr EggletOn said that during the time the Board had had control of the Domain, it had tried hard to effect improvements and he appealed to those present to rally round and assist in the work.
