THE WEATHER
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 20. The weather report and forecast is as follows: —General situation: A shallow westerly depression is crossing New Zealand to-day, while a rather intense anti-cyclone is advancing from south-eastern Australia on to the Tasman. Forecast: Winds northerly from Nelson and Marlborough northwards, southerly thence southwards, with southerlies becoming general within the next sixteen hours, force light to moderate, and later increasing somewhat. Seas in New Zealand waters rather rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to fresh southerly winds, moderate seas. The weather for the most part will be fair, but rather changeable, with scattered showers likely at times in most districts, and temperatures becoming colder.
