(Our Own Correspondent.) ■REEFTON, August 20. Mr Thompson, jwiho has been appointed Manager of the Murray Greek Mino, arrived on Saturday. M?’ and Mrs Joseph Irving, of Strut ford, are at present, on a visit. t*’ Reefton. and are the guests of the latter’s mother, Mrs H. Evans. Bourke’s Creek. Bi)th are natives of the district, and this is their first visit here for a period of iwentv yoa/r,s. Mr Jas. Pascoe, of Waiuta, former ly a well-known Reefton resident, was a visitor yesterday. Miss Annie Cadan is visiting Reeftou. and is the guest of her aiin\ Mrs Stallard. Mr Jack Dellaca, of the staff of Iho Bank of New Zealand. Reef ton. i“ an inmate of the Tnangahiia Hospital, suffering from a severe attac of tonsilitis. but is showing a little improvement. Sheepowners are again deploring the ravages of dogs on their flocks. On Saturday, Messrs Dick and Son’s paddocks were visited by the marauding animals, and many sheep were almost torn to pieces. In one instance the kidneys were torn out, and in » second case a hole was made in the side of a sheep that exposed the entrails, whi.'.e others were more or less Corn about. Yesterday morning the sheep on Reef ton Racecourse wen! again attacked, and two of the smimals had almost all their wool torn off. as well, as being otherwise badlv bitten and injured. Perhaps when a dog-owner is mulcted in a good sum for damages he or she will realise that it will pay to keep their teill- - chained up. One dog was found dead on Dick’s property, having eaten the poison .laid there. Two Rugby matches under the Inangnhua Sub-Union were played yesterday. The Black’s Point v. Warntah game at Patterson’s Paddock was very exciting, and after a keenly contested game, Black’s Point were defeated by K> points to <B. At Tkamatu'a, the home team defeated Stars (Reefton) by 20 points to S.
