THE RENT—DEFERRED PAYMENT
A Psalm of Discontent PLAYED UPON THE POPULACE. (Composed in Otorohanga, with ecologies to David). Gordon Coates is my shepherd: 1 am in want. He maketh me to lie down upon park benches; he leadeth me beside the still factories. He disturbeth my soul: he leadest me in the paths of destruction for his own fame’s sake. Yee.., thou I walk through the valley of Depression, I anticipate no recovery: for he, is with me; his dole and exchange rate discomfort mo. He prepareth a reduction in my salary before my creditors; He annointeth my income with taxes; my expenses runneth over. Surely unemployment and poverty will follow’ me all the days of his administration, and I w r ill dwell in a house that, is mortgaged for ever.
