YESTERDAY’S CASES. The following cases were dealt with by Afr. \V. Meldrum, S.M., at a sitting if the Magistrate’s Court at Greynouth, yesterday; LORRY WITHOUT LIGHTS. Angus Scott Alervyu McLean, of Kumara. was charged with operating a heavv motor vehicle not displaying the respective lights required. .Defendant did not a]'pear. Inspector J. H. dark, who laid the information, slate-] that it was totally dark at the time. Defendant was convicted and fined £1 with costs. FAILED TO KEEP TO LEFT. Alfred Henry Dearing, of Karoro., was charged that, being the driver of a motor vehicle when meeting another vehicle in Cowper Street, failed to keep to his left. his newly-purchased car. Witness instructed the men to get the car ready for the road, and the men pul. the. changed number plates on, as Dalziel required a car to got home, and witness did not take the responsibility for that. Dalziel was to come into town the following Saturday to fix up registration, etc., for the car. but he failed to do so. John Cody, Registrar of Motor A’ehicles, in Greymouth, gave particulars of the registration of the two cars. The defendant, Dalziel. in evidence, said his Essex- was fully registered and numbered; but he did not know the numbers. Ho thought the Chevrolet was fully registered. Ho left the matter of notifying the change of ownership to Mr. Haines who volunteered to do it. The Magistrate said that Haines must accept the liability of the wrong number plates. lie would be convicted and fined 5/- with costs 10/-, and on the similar charge Dalziel would be convicted and discharged, whilst on the other charge Dalziel would be fined 10/- with costs 12/-. RAN INTO GOODS TRAIN. Vincent Llewellyn Davies, of Blackball, did not appear to answer a charge that being a driver of a motor cycle he did attempt to pass over a Railway crossing when the same was not clear, at Addington on April 19.
