D. Myers has returned from a holiday visit to Christchurch. Mrs Taylor, of Kokiri, has returned from an extended holiday in Australia. Mr F. Romans, of Groymouth, is spending a few days at Waiuta. Miss L. McGrath, who has been on a holiday visit to Greymouth, will return to Dunedin to-day. Mr T. J. Bull, of Auckland, is the guest of Mr and Mrs B. Dixon, Perotti Street. Mrs W. Kennedy, of Blackball, is visiting her sister, Mrs A. Brownlie, in Christchurch. Mrs J. Menzies (Hokitika) is spending a holiday in Blackball, and is the guest of Mr and Mrs A. Moore. Miss A. Quinn, of Christchurch, is spending her holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs J. G. Quinn, of Blackball. The resignation of Mr F. Kestieaux. as conductor, has been accepted with regret by the Groymouth Philharmonic Society. Tin* death occurred at the Grey Hos- . jutal last evening of Mr Cornelius Kennedy, of Brunner, aged 4G years. He was a native of Brunner, and a miner by oee+ipation. He is survived by one sister, Mis M. McDonald, of Brunner, and two brothers, William (Runanga) and David (Brunner). Mr N. J). Bowman, manager of the Guardian Assurance Company, of Christchurch, has been elected as one of the Underwriters’ representatives on the Greymouth Fire Board. Mr K. B. The funeral of the late Thomas Franklin took place yesterday at Karoro Cemetery, and was largely attended. The services at the Holy Trinity Church, and at the graveside, were conducted by Rev. Mr Hamilton (Kumara). During the service the choir rendered “How Bright These Glorious Spirits Shine,” Psalm XC., and the “Nunc Dimittis.” The organist, Mr T. F. Savage, rendered “O Rest in the Lord” and Chopin’s 4 ‘Funeral March.’’ The death has occurred at Auckland of Mr W. Moore, aged 65 years. He was a native of Brunnorton, ami lived practically all his life on the Coast, mainly at Blackball, where he left eight months ago for health reasons, he having resided in Auckland ever since. He is survived by seven daughters (Mrs Gibson and Mrs Myles, Blackball, Mrs Wearnc and Mrs Skelton, Collingwood, Mrs Jansen, Greymouth, Mrs Pink, Auckland, and Miss Ada Moore, of Auckland), and four sons, Messrs Thomas and Arthur Blackball, and George and William, Auckland.
