The chairman ‘of the directors ot Charleston Sluicing Company reports that the directors of the company, ac* <om| anied by ’he consulting engineer paid an official visit to the company’s propertv at Charleston last week-end, and the party examined the tunnel tail race, the water races, the site for tables, and the proposed ’working faces. Satisfactory progress has been made with all construction work. All head race work is well u]> to schedule time. Half the pipe line is on the ground, and the remainder is ready for transport from the pipe factory situ* ate a few miles distant. The power house has been erected. Samples ol the wash dirt exposed in the working faces were tested and gave satisfactory results. The enormous extent of the old workings is ample evidence of the payability of the ground, as sluicing only stopped when the miners ran out of fall. Wash dirt is expect ed to ho going over the tables by next 1 September.
