(Own Correspondent.) Wedding. WESTPORT. June 7. A quiet but pretty wedding took place yesterday al St. Canice’s ('liuri-li. when Maude, fifth daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Clark.', Millerton, was married to John, son of Mr and Mrs .1. McGrath, Bradshaws. Rev. Father Murphy was the officiating ,|eigym:in. Miss Mavis Clarke, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and the bridegroom was attended by his brother. A reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents at Millerton, a large nnmoer of guests being present. Excursion from Christchurch. Although (he Buller Rugby Union wen* unsuccessful in arranging a visit of n Canterbury fifteen, in conjunction with (he excursion from Christchurch mi (he 17th inst., everything points i (l the trip being a very popular one. The excursion has been arranged by the local Poultry Club and (he Show which will be held the same week-end should induce breeders to send exhibits from Christchurch. The Secretary of the Club advises that the number of enquiries for schedules points to the Show being a great success.

Last evening Miss Myrtle Sherlock, popular athlete ami captain of the Ramblers Ladies’ Hockey team, was 1 made the recipient of a beautiful shells - tea service from the members of the Club to mark the occasion of her marriage, which takes place to-day to Mr .1. Tinnetti, Waimangaroa. Miss Connie Robertson, Secretary of the ‘ Club, made the presentation. .Miss M. Obituary, ’l'he death has occurred at Wanganui of Mrs H. Burchfield, an old resi- | dent of Millerton, and caused widespread regret. A native of England, she arrived at Millerton 25 years ago, where she resided for a considerable period. She was highly respected by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Mr 11. Burchfield, of Granity; also four sons and three daughters. The sons are Walter (Ripvaka), Tom (Millerton), , and Fred ’and Harry (Wanganui). Mesdames .1. and IL Hennessy. Barber, officials of the West Coast Miners’ District Council, arrived from Greymouth yesterday, and will this morning discuss with the mine owners’ representatives a new agreement for Coast mines. Mr Otto Bishop. Secretary of the Coal Owners’ is a visitor to Westport, and will be present at the Mining Conference which opens this morning at the offices of the Westport Coal Company.
