THE ADJOURNMENT Great Slump in Grants (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, December 6. It is anticipated that the Supplementary Estimates to be presented to the House this week will not reach one hundred thousand pounds.

The most notable decline will be in the Public Works grants. Cabinet had long sittings over the week-end. lasting altogether fourteen hours. According to the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) the principal business has been consideration of the nine nC»w Bills which the Government hopes to introduce before the adjournment of tie House. Some of them may still be postponed until after tho resumption of the House. The more urgent ones have kept Cabinet fully occupied. Long hours will be one of the ’features of the last three days of the session this year. The Government has decided defin it ly to take the adjourn ment on Thursday night, and the business remaining on the Order Paper will then be held over until January. SALARY CUTS? V ELLINGTON. December 6. In r?ply to a question, Mr Forbes stated this afternoon that the Government have not given any consideration to the question of making further reductions in the salaries of the State employees.
