December -1. ■ Tiie new German Chancellor, General Kun Von Schleicher comes of soldier stock, but there is no indication that Im is a Militarist Junker. On (he contrary, he is courteous, and is credited with a reasonable spirit. His policy is directed to combating unemployment by improving trade He has sought the viewy of the unions, and has shown no disposition fo limit the Reichstag. When the Reichstag meets on Thursday, it is expected that the Chancellor will ask the (Speaker to agree to an adjournment to enable an opportunity to negotiate among the parties. The change from Von Papen to Von Schleicher is mainly important because it may mean that Germany’s economic, difficulties throughout tho winter may possibly b<’ faced without political disturbance. THE EX CHANCELLOR. BERLIN, December 4. Presiilent Hindenburg In a letter to Captain Von Papen says that he parts with him with a heavy heart, but with confidence unshaken. He will never forget their period of co-operation. Captain Von Papen’s well-intentioned measures irritated the masses. His downfall was finally scaled by his colleagues’ refusal to co-operate.
