SPRING FLOWERS

St. John’s Display MANY FINE BLOOMS. The Spring Show of the St. John’s Horticultural Society was held in St. John’s Hall yesterday afternoon and proved a decided success from all viewpoints. . The quantity and quality of the exhibits were well up to the standard of previous shows, while the wellfilled stalls added to the success of the function. A feature of the show was a display of prize blopms by Bradbury’s, Christchurch, through W. D. Murray and Co. The Show was opened in the afternoon by Rev. 11. R. Fell, who commended all those who had worked so hard in preparing the show. The Secretary, Mrs O. McLean, deserves great credit for the manner in which the display was handled, and also the various stall-holders, who were as follows: Cake, Mesdames J. P. Forbes, P. J. McLean and A. H. Paterson; Work, Mesdames W. Kyle and C. Rose; Sweets, Mesdames J. Low and J. C. H. McDonald; Guild Stall, Misses N. Tennent and E. Leitch; Cut Flowers, Mrs J. Leitch and Miss Meikle. SPECIAL PRIZES. Special prizes were won as follows: — St. John’s Cup for most points in Daffodil Section: Grey Hospital. Champion Bloom of Show: Airs R. McTaggart. Trophy most points in Domestic Section: Mrs W. Kyle. Trophy collection of Daffodils: Miss C. Wilson. Trophy and cup for most points in Decorative Section: Miss N. Tennent. Special prize donated by Mr Mai ham for most points in Cut Flower Section: Miss C. Wilson. The awards were as follows, the number of entries being in parentheses: — SECTION A—DAFFODILS.
